2023 Mustang Speech and Debate Camp
MISSION: The mission of the camp is to provide various majors of public speaking from oral interpretation to public address strategies. Students will be introduced to the Munster High School Speech and Debate Team within various competitive experiences.
DATES: The Camp will take place from July 31 to August 4 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Munster High School.
COST: $150.00 - You may write out the check to Munster Speech and Debate. Munster High School's address is 8808 Columbia Avenue - Munster, Indiana 46321. This camp serves as an important fundraiser for our program and students Alternatively, the check can be brought to the high school main office in a marked envelope (addressed to Munster Speech and Debate c/o Mr. Mayer). Students will be provided with a Camp T-Shirt. . This google form must be submitted digitally by June 1st. In order to guarantee a camp shirt, the hard copy of the form and fees will be submitted via mail or in person to Munster High School by June 1st.
SNACKS - Students should bring their own snacks and water to enjoy during our mid-camp break. We will likely break from 10:30-10:45. A pizza celebration is set for Thursday, August 3rd at 11:00 AM.
STAFF- Jordan Mayer: Jordan Mayer serves as the Director of the nationally renowned Munster High School Speech and Debate Team, the 30th largest chapter in the USA. Jordan studied theater and communications at Indiana University. He is an Indiana Speech Coach Hall of Fame Member. Under Jordan’s leadership the Munster Speech Team has won thirteen consecutive State Titles and numerous National Titles. In the last ten years, Jordan has coached 20 students to the semi-final and final rounds of the National Speech Tournaments including the 2014 National Champion in Prose Reading and 2015 National Champion in Humorous Interpretation. Jordan's mission to help students build confidence by finding their voice.
Assistant Munster Speech and Debate Coaches and Varsity Speech Members have served as staff in the past.
CURRICULUM-Students will select a focus at the start of the camp and sharpen skills within their chosen discipline. Students will perform a final performance on Friday, August 4th.
